Description
This Benrus 50th Anniversary D-Day Military Watch is a nice mechanical collectible, commemorating the 50th anniversary of D-Day. It is in like new condition, with light signs of wear. No major scratches. New old stock 18mm strap included. The Swiss made strap is OD cotton canvas on the outside and black leather on the inside. Comes with original box, case and papers included.
These were manufactured in 1994 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of D-day. Though Benrus actually supplied military wristwatches during Viet Nam war, and into the 1970s, this is a modern representation of military wristwatch from WWII. It is more modern in size being 33x44mm excluding the crown. The dial features Luminova paint which glows well and a 24hr inner track to keep military time.
The movement is a high quality 17 jewel Eta 2801 Swiss hacking movement. You pull the crown out and the movement stops so it can be synched with a master time source. This is the same movement that was used in the famous Hamilton WW-G-113 watches from the late 1970s and 1980s. It is also the trusted movement that Marathon Watch Company selected to put in its popular General purpose mechanical military watch.
A reproduction mechanical wind-up watch, assembled in the U.S. factory includes a stainless steel water-resistant case, Swiss movement with a full 17 jewel mechanism, and luminous dial and hands. This watch also features the “hack” feature that permits the sweep second hand to stop when the crown was pulled. The watch was issued with an O.D. green tropical weather canvas strap and a canvas/leather field pouch and came in a presentation box.
