Sinn Diving Watch U1 S Fully Tegimented on Bracelet — Like new
Here is a fabulous example of the Sinn Diving Watch U1 S from a meticulous southern US collector. We took this in on trade for a new Marathon Military issue Dive watch and want to offer it on to someone who will appreciate the fine German engineering and watchmaking it represents.
The Sinn Diving Watch U1 S is an attractive new version of one of Sinn’s most popular diver’s watches, the U1. Previously, the U1 was available with a black diver’s bezel. As the U1 S, the watch now comes with an all-over Black Hard Coating on a tegimented basis, which further highlights its design. Sinn refers to this as: Fully Tegimented on Bracelet
The case and crown of the U1 S are made of high-strength seawater-resistant German Submarine Steel. As well as having extreme seawater resistance, this material possesses the highest level of non-magnetic properties. Thanks to its captive design, it is virtually impossible for the diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting to become detached from the case as a result of hard knocks.
The Sinn U1 S has been checked for pressure resistance and tested based on European diving equipment standards and certified by DNV. This confirms that it is highly reliable.
The Sinn U1 S on black bracelet features the same great case design made in-house from German submarine steel at Sinn’s case-making facility in Glashutte, Germany. Once the case is complete, the Tegimenting process begins, and when we say “fully Tegimented” we mean what we say – case, crown, bezel, case back, and even the anti-reflective coating.
The combination of the submarine steel and fully Tegimented case create superior scratch and corrosion resistance.
And unlike watches made in stainless steel, this watch case does not need to be rinsed with tap water with each exposure to a saltwater environment since it is made from true submarine steel.
The uni-directional ratchet-operated rotating bezel is also milled from this submarine steel and is Tegimented. The indices are machined directly into the bezel without the use of bezel inserts, which can corrode or come loose at deep depths.
The international testing lab of Germanischen Lloyd has tested the Sinn U1 S on the bracelet and determined that the watch can be certified as water-resistant to 1,000 meters. This same firm tests submarines for their ability to withstand the effects of underwater use.
This particular example was part of a collection of a meticulous collector and, thus, has seen very little use being originally purchased in October, 2018. It comes with original boxes, papers, and full bracelet (several links have been removed and a tool for replacing/removing links is included).  This is a super value when taking into account the condition, demand for this model, and the fact that these are not currently available from the manufacturer. Sinn is also expected to raise the price on these shortly due to manufacturing costs.
This is a really nice example of the Sinn Diving Watch U1 S…. perhaps one of the finest diving watches available currently.
